Course Description:
Ramifications of an inadequate periodontal diagnosis can lead to iatrogenic periodontal disease and subsequent uncontrolled inflammatory conditions in dental patients trusting their care to a dental professional. Failure to diagnose periodontal disease is consistently a top complaint filed with state dental boards. The first step in treating and managing a patient's care is diagnosing disease accurately, ethically, and comprehensively. As diagnostics continually evolve, dental providers are encouraged to put down the scaler and pick up the probe to better guide comprehensive diagnostics for optimal care plans.
Participants will engage in an interactive demonstration guided by leading expert in the field, Katrina M. Sanders, to understand the pivotal role of innovation in enhancing patient engagement and treatment success. From advanced diagnostic tools to cutting-edge treatment modalities, attendees will gain insights into incorporating these innovations seamlessly into their workflow.
Alongside periodontal hygienist Katrina Sanders, walk through the nine distinguished classifications of health, gingival disease, periodontal disease and acquired deformities and conditions of the periodontium as well as reviewing the clinical parameters of periimplant diseases and Staging and Grading as outlined by the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP). Gain guidance and confidence through case-based scenarios aimed to offer a practical application of course acquired knowledge. Finally, receive updates as issued by the AAP for further clarity and understanding in classifying diseases of the periodontium.
Speaker Bio:
A clinical dental hygienist, author and international speaker, Katrina Sanders is passionate about elevating the dental profession by creating an undeniable movement that educates, encourages, and empowers the profession to rise in its power. Known as the "Dental WINEgenist," she pairs her desire for excellence in the dental industry with her knowledge and passion for wine. She is the Clinical Liaison, Hygiene Excellence & Innovation for AZPerio, the country's largest periodontal practice where she works alongside Diplomates to the American Board of Periodontology in the surgical operatory. She is the founder, CEO and keynote speaker for Sanders Board Preparatory and has been published in various publications including RDH Magazine and Today's RDH and is advisory member for Modern Hygienist and the Dental Academy of Continuing Education. Recently, Katrina proudly received the Denobi Award for Clinical Excellence and Innovation, the University of Minnesota Distinguished Alumni Award and RDH Magazine Award of Distinction. Her philanthropic efforts include dental humanitarian work in developing countries, supporting abused and homeless animals and spreading awareness about the benefits of organ and tissue donation.
